Frequently Asked Questions

FAQs

We have compiled a short list of the questions we are asked most frequently by our clients, our FAQs. If you don’t see the answer to your question here, please contact us.

Why should we hire Remgo?

We started our business in 2001, after each having strong and successful careers in computer programming, graphic design, and marketing. We believe that our strong portfolio and our solid reputation for producing quality work on time and on budget are our best sales tools. We provide a list of references with each proposal.

Are your prices flat rate or time and materials?

We offer both options. If you stick to the timetable and scope defined in our flat rate proposal, we can guarantee that the price we quote will be the price we charge. However, if you want more flexibility with regard to collecting materials, making changes to the design or even making changes to functionality, we are happy to work on a time and materials basis.

How does the development process work?

There are nine steps in our development process
Discovery – If the project is a rebuild, we review your current content and make further recommendations for improvements. If it’s a new site, we start by discussing the subjects and functionality you envisage for your site and develop an outline for you.
Content – You compile all the content for the website, including all text and images.
Preliminary Design – We create a home page concept including colors, fonts, image style and layout.
Organization – When we have received all content in its final version, we review it to determine the best way to organize the information. The structure of the site is based on this organizational scheme and must be approved by you.
Design Revision – After reviewing the initial design, you have the opportunity to request changes.
Implementation – Once we’ve received your approval on the design, we move on to implementation. This is where the approved design becomes concrete and where we add site-specific features.
Page Content – When we have all the content that will be included on the site and an approved design, we will enter all the data.
Testing – We run through a final set of tests to be sure that everything is functional. You have an opportunity at this time to test the site as well.
Launch – Once we have your final approval, we launch the site. The marks the end of the project.

What are your payment terms?

Generally we require a one third deposit. The second third is due at design approval, and the final third at launch or 30 days after final testing begins, whichever comes first.

What does "responsive web design" mean?

Responsive web design is a technique used to build a website that adapts its layout to fit the size of any device. Instead of having to build an additional website for mobile devices, you can lower initial costs by only needing a single website. Since responsive web design is really only a classification, each company has their own interpretation and implementation.

Are your sites mobile-friendly?

Yes. Every site we have built since 2010 has been mobile-friendly. The method we use to achieve this is known as responsive design, which ensures that the site works well on a wide variety of screen sizes, from smartphones and tablets through to small and large desktop monitors.

How many design revisions do you allow for?

Our plus and premium plans allow for unlimited revisions. Our standard plan allows for 4 rounds of revisions. We ask that you give us a comprehensive list of changes each time to make the process quick and smooth. Revisions only become an issue if it’s obvious we’re moving in circles. If this happens, we’ll work with you on ways we can get the project back on track.

Will I be able to make changes to the site after it is completed?

Yes. We use WordPress to build our sites and this powerful content management system allows anyone with good computer skills to make changes to their own website. We always remain available to make changes for you, if you don’t have time or you need more complex changes.

How long will it take for my web hosting account to be set up?

Most web hosting companies will activate your web hosting account in 24 hours. Domain names however can take between 24 and 72 hours for them to become visible on the Internet.

Can you build database driven and e-commerce websites?

Yes. We have a number of options for setting up an e-commerce website, including integration with popular payment providers like PayPal, WorldPay or Sage Pay.

Will my website show up in Google?

Yes. We design websites from the ground up so that they work well with search engines like Google, Yahoo! and Bing. We ensure each page is optimised for the keywords that you want to promote. We register your website and add monitoring tools (Google Analytics for example) so that you can view detailed statistics on the visitors to your site.

Do you provide web hosting?

We do not provide web hosting ourselves. Quite a lot of web design companies who “offer” web hosting are re-sellers who use the services of a dedicated web hosting company. It is also possible that a design company may not have the technical expertise needed to ensure total reliability. We believe that our clients should have complete control over their website, which means a separate web hosting contract between the client and the host, which doesn’t tie you to particular website design company. We will be happy to help you to determine which web hosting company and which web hosting package is the best for your requirements.

How long will it take to design my website?

This largely depends on what is involved, as well as how soon you, as the client, are able provide us with the essential documents, such as copy and pictures. A simple brochure site can be up and running in 1 or 2 weeks. More complex projects can take longer. When we know your exact requirements, we will send you a contract with a realistic end date. We know that project deadlines are very important : we will always do our utmost to meet them.

What is a content management system (CMS)?

A content management system (CMS) is software that allows you to update and manage your website through an easy-to-use interface. Think of it like Microsoft Word but for your website. Without this software, you’ll need to hire a web developer to make modifications to your website. We use WordPress, the most popular CMS in the world, as our content management system.

What is WordPress?

WordPress is content management system (CMS) software that allows you to edit and manage the text and images on your website. It’s open-sourced and community developed, meaning anyone is free to build their website on top of the software. Please visit our WordPress page so get more info.

Can you guarantee my website will show up first on Google?

No. If someone is making you this guarantee, be very careful. There are bad actors who claim this is possible. They typically use techniques that can penalize your website or even get you removed from Google. Every business’s circumstances are unique and the outcome of every SEO strategy is different. A more realistic goal is to have your website show up on the first page of Google results.

Can you help me to get my website to show up on Google?

Yes. It’s almost always possible to get your website to show up for “branded” searches, meaning someone typing in your business name. It can be much more difficult to compete on industry keywords if your market is oversaturated.

Does my website need search engine optimization (SEO)?

Yes, in some form. Many people are surprised to learn SEO isn’t a single process that takes place. Google has thousands of different factors it weighs in order to rank your website. How fast your site loads, ease of use on mobile, how long people stay on your site, and more are all taken into consideration.

On-page search engine optimization is almost always a good idea. This ensures your website is coded to correct standards and the content on your website is structured properly. This makes Google happy and gives you a boost within their rankings.

Off-page search engine optimization is more complex and primarily involves something called “backlinks”. These are links on other websites pointing to your website. Getting authentic quality backlinks is very time consuming and difficult. Some agencies will try to “game” the system by creating fake backlinks. Google is getting very good at figuring out if a backlink is fake. If you’re caught, you can be completely delisted from Google searches. Remember, if it sounds too good to be true, it most likely is.

What is search engine optimization (SEO)?

Search engine optimization, or SEO, is the process of improving a website’s rank on search engines like Google or Bing. Having your website show up higher than your competitors on these services often leads to more visitors and customers. While there are industry standard techniques used to help improve your rank, SEO techniques are subjective and can be thought of as an artform. Our SEO services are designed to provide the biggest impact at prices that make sense for small business.

Do you use WordPress plugins to create your websites?

We have designed and developed our own collection of plugins to extend WordPress for small businesses. The only third party plugins we use are Yoast SEO and WooCommerce. While there are many WordPress plugins available, they often cause issues with maintenance and security down the road.

Will I own the finished product?

Yes. All we ask is the right to post screenshots and a description of your site in our portfolio.

I already have a site, but I want a new design. Can you help?

Yes. Contact us for a free no obligation chat. If you prefer, you can email us at info@remgo.com

Do you outsource overseas?

No, everything we do is 100% in-house, so we have complete control.

How much does a website cost?

What your website will cost will depend, to a great extent, on what you want (number of pages required, functions on the website, content management systems) – as every website is unique, the time involved in one can vary considerably compared to another. This is why we offer a free price quote so we can give you an estimate as to how much the project will cost.

What is your refund policy?

If you’re unsatisfied and want to terminate your contract within the first sixty days, we’ll refund your payments. We do not offer refunds for any services after the first sixty days.

Do you offer a warranty?

Absolutely! Bug fixes are included with each of our monthly website packages. We’ll keep your website running in the same condition it was as the day it launched. This is one of the biggest benefits of being on a monthly plan.
